8th October

There has been mixed weather this week - fine sunny sharp blue skies followed by the bad weather yesterday from the typhoon moving across Japan.  When the skies clear though, the autumn scenery is looking very fine.   In higher regions the autumn colours are now past their peak though lower down in the valley the best is still to come...

As the seasons quickly change, the first snow of the season has been spotted on mountain tops this morning!

25th September More fine weather this week as autumn takes hold.  While days have warmed up, evenings have been getting noticeably cooler - even cold at times.  Makes you think of the coming winter....!

18th September There has been some fantastic weather in the region over the last few days.  Bright blue skies contrasting with the increasingly colourful mountainsides.  Take a look at the photos below to get an idea of the scenery in the area at the moment....

11th September Autumn stakes a stronger hold on the region with temperatures continuing to cool down.  This last week, and in particular the last few days, it has been very cool - almost slightly cold - in the evenings.  After some forecast rain on Saturday, it looks like we are set for good week for the following week or so...

4th September

As we move into September it is feeling more like like autumn almost by the day.  Temperatures have kept cool and we have had some fine days, autumn-like fog rolling in on others, and the colours on the mountainsides are now changing.  Look out for the most spectacular autumn scenery in the first half of October.

28th August It has been a generally cooler than normal summer here in northern Nagano, with more rain than we normally expect.  Now in late August we are seeing more autumn-like skies and even reaching for jackets from time to time.  Colours on the mountains are changing too and so it will not be long now before we can enjoy the comfortable autumn season in the region.

17th July With rainy season now behind us, we are looking forward to a good month or two of fine, summer weather in the valley.  The coming weeks will be a fine time to get up into the mountains - not only to escape the heat of summer but also to enjoy the fine views and flowers.

9th July

The last week or so has seen a lot of cloud and rain as we are now into the official rainy season.  It is looking likely that the weather might be clearing up from the weekend.... perhaps soon we will be into the real summer.

26th June More flowers blooming and temperatures rising in the region now.  It has been mixed weather over the last week but fine weather today and forecast for tomorrow.  It is currently looking like rain on Sunday.... rainy season!

18th June

Still the temperatures remain relatively cool - for example today it has not reached 20 degrees - with changeable conditions most of this week.  Cloud with sun at times is forecast for the coming weekend.

Although there are pockets of snow left here and there on the mountainside, flowers are appearing earlier than they usually do this season.

9th June Cooler temperatures have continued over the last week or so - even feeling cold higher up on the mountains - but summer is now just around the corner and we can expect things to heat up and get more humid from now....  great views on clear days!

28th May

Last week the Tsugaike National Park opened for the summer season.  There is still snow on the mountain tops as can be seen from the photographs below, but there is also a lot of green on show now as well as flowers appearing as temperatures gradually rise.  The last few days though have been cooler once again and cloudy but the fine weather and sunny skies look set to return next week.

21st May Just two weeks and the weather has really taken a turn - warm, even hot, temperatures and rising humidity... though it is still of course manageable and nothing like you get in the city.   We will be posting more information regarding the green season here soon....

7th May The ski and snowboard season is now officially over in the region as all the ski resorts are now closed.  Everyone is now looking forward to the warmer weather and outdoor activities on offer in the "green season".

1st May Back to the warm weather now as we are in the Golden Week holidays here in Japan - until the last day of the season at Tsugaike ski resort on 6th May.  It is warm in the days and we have fine weather forecast into next week.
