|
7th May |
The ski and
snowboard season is now officially over in the
region as all the ski resorts are now closed.
Everyone is now looking forward to the warmer
weather and outdoor activities on offer in the
"green season". |
|
|
1st May |
Back to the warm
weather now as we are in the Golden Week
holidays here in Japan - until the last day of
the season at Tsugaike ski resort on 6th May.
It is warm in the days and we have fine weather
forecast into next week. |
|
|
23rd April |
After warm
weather again the last few days have cooled down
and today was actually quite cold. There
was even some fresh snow fall on the top of
Tsugaike Kogen this morning. The weather
is clearing up though and warmer weather once
again forecast for tomorrow. It is looking
likely that it will be raining over the weekend
though... |
|
|
17th April |
This last week
has been cooler with rain at times. Things
are clearing up though and we are very likely
going to have a weekend of fine weather and fine
views with warmer temperatures once again.
Skiing and snowboarding on upper slopes at
Tsugaike Kogen until 6th May! |
|
|
10th April |
The warm spring
weather conditions continue as we approach the
middle of April. Temperatures at village
level have been reaching near 20 degrees some
days this week and the good weather seems set to
continue into early next week. |
|
|
3rd April |
There was some
fantastic weather to enjoy in the valley over
the weekend and early in the week. The
good snow conditions made for a good spring
holiday for many people visiting the area.
Winter is not quite over yet with a light
snowfalls in recent days. More fine
weather is forecast for the coming week. |
|
|
27th March |
Just as we were
thinking winter was over - it returns! A
fair amount of snow has fallen in the last day
or so and it feels like winter once again.
The resorts have received a good top-up of snow
in time for the spring holidays. Good
conditions out there! |
|
|
23rd March |
It is feeling
more and more like spring now as temperatures
rise and the snow melts away from village areas.
There is less snow than usual but still a lot on
the mountains and still a lot more skiing and
snowboarding to enjoy. |
|
|
9th March |
The mixed and
mild weather continues as we make our way into
March and the "spring ski" season. We have
had more snowfall but again temperatures have
risen to unseasonably mild levels.
Temperatures look set to go down again though
with a good chance of some more snow in the next
few days. |
|
|
26th
February |
It has been a
mild week with even rain in the region, though
thankfully that seems to be behind us now as we
look forward to some more snowfall this evening.
Currently Tsugaike is reporting 255cm of snow on
the higher slopes, so still a fair amount to
play in... |
|
|
20th
February |
Welcome snowfall
this week has given the resorts a good new cover
and more is forecast for the run up to the
weekend so conditions out there on the mountains
should be good. |
|
|
13th
February |
There has been
some good snowfall high in the mountains this
week, though generally the weather is milder
than expected for the time of year.
Another mild weekend but snow is forecast from
early next week... |
|
|
6th
February |
Last week we saw
some light snow mixed in with fine mild weather
but overnight we have seen some decent snowfall
so conditions up there on the ski resort hills
should be good this weekend. |
|
|
30th January |
Somewhat
uncharacteristically, the mild weather spell has
generally continued this past week. While
the ski resorts of course have enough snow,
there is not as much as we are used to.
However, snow is forecast again this weekend so
hopefully there will be a lot of fresh snow to
play very soon. |
|
|
23rd January |
We are currently
experiencing mild temperatures in the region,
but it surely won't last for long as new
snowfall is forecast for this weekend and into
next week so snow conditions should be good. |
|
|
16th January |
Some good
snowfalls over the last week have put smiles on
faces and the ski and snowboard resorts are now
enjoying some excellent conditions along with a
fair few days of fine weather in Otari.
There is a good chance of some fine weather this
coming weekend... |
|
|
6th January |
Happy New Year
from Otari. We had quite a lot of snowfall
over the new year holidays, though the snow
depths at resorts are not as much as we might
usually expect for the time of year. All
ski and snowboard resorts are open and looking
forward to the forecast heavy snow this coming
weekend. |
|
|
26th December |
Heavy snowfall has arrived in the
region! Since yesterday around 40cm
of snow has fallen in Otari and it is still
coming down now. This should really allow
the ski resorts top open up this weekend - and
more snow is forecast for the weekend.
|
|
|
19th December |
Into the second half of December
and we have not had that much new snowfall in
the last few weeks. While it is
possible to ski, operations are still limited as
the resorts wait for snowfall to allow
everywhere to open up. It is looking
likely that the next snow will arrive on Monday
and Tuesday. |
|
|
28th November |
After that first heavy snowfall
of the season the last week has seen milder
weather and no new snow. Snow remains down
to village level but we all wait for the next
snowfall of the season to let the resorts begin
their season. |
|
|
21st November |
Winter has most definitely
arrived in the region. Earlier this week
we were treated to some heavy snowfall down into
village level - enough for some ski and
snowboard resorts to open today and tomorrow.
This weekend you can enjoy riding on the snow in
part of the Tsugaike Kogen resort. We will
be updating the pages with more winter season
information soon.... |
|
|
10th November |
The seasons are changing!
While some days are still lovely autumn days, we
have seen snow up on the mountains and the
mornings and evenings in particular are getting
much cooler. Not long now until the
winter season is with us. See the recent
photos below.

 |
|
|
31st October |
The mountains received a white
dusting earlier this week as snow once again
appeared in the region. Temperatures are
continuing that steady slide down the scale as
winter approaches.
